Eating disorder "logic"

To build on yesterday’s post… I have quite a few “rules” that seem very logical to me. Not really eating disordered rules, like “no liquids with calories”… although some of those do still linger (at the height of my disorder, I could have probably written a book with all of my rules). No, these are different — we’ll just call them “Grey Logic.” Obviously they are influenced by recent events / arguments.

Therapists are like Starbucks Drinks

Choosing a therapist these days can be like ordering a drink from Starbucks:
I’ll have a grande CBT lite DBT Gestalt-free psychotherapy with two shots of psychoanalysis and breve IPT.
This image came to mind have after dinner with a friend last night. She’s been in therapy for several years, and has decided to switch to someone with “a little more of a CBT focus… who still integrates interpersonal therapy but spends less time talking about family.” Hmm… good luck with that search, Rach.

mental illness seasonal calendar

I’ve seen this before, but stumbled upon it again today while reading The Civic Platform:

Funny, I don’t have any friends born in April, May, or June.  My anorexic friends were born in October and December.  The one true alcoholic I know was born in February.
So much for that theory.  Although — it would be interesting to put my own mental-health “calendar” together…

Feel-oogle

We Feel Fine is a different kind of search engine–a feelings search engine.  Every ten minutes the system searches blogs all over the world for the phrases “I feel” and “I am feeling,” with their mission to “explore human emotion on a global scale.”  Apparently 15,000 – 20,000 new feelings are added to their database a day.  Interesting.
 It is very unlikely that Grey Thinking will ever be crawled, since I’m pretty opposed to the “and how does that make you feel?” question, and all similar renditions.  Still, clicking around on …
